For most crossings it is the New Port in Corfu Town : the mainland link to Igoumenitsa, the main Paxos service, the international Saranda crossing and the seasonal ships from Italy all use it. Lefkimmi , about 30 kilometres south of Corfu Town, has its own shorter Igoumenitsa crossing and a Paxos link and is the better start if you stay in southern Corfu.

Igoumenitsa to Corfu: Corfu Town or Lefkimmi?

The short hop from Igoumenitsa is how most people and almost all vehicles reach the island, and it lands at two different ports. The main crossing takes 70 to 90 minutes to the New Port in Corfu Town, shared by the car ferries of Kerkyra Lines and Kerkyra Seaways, with departures spread from early morning until late evening. The alternative is Lefkimmi in the island's south: Lefkimmi Lines crosses in about 50 minutes, with fewer departures a day. If you stay in or north of Corfu Town, take the main crossing; for Kavos and the south coast, Lefkimmi saves you the drive through the island. Corfu and Paxos

Paxos, often written in its Greek form "Paxi" on timetables and tickets, has no airport, so the ferry is the way in, and Corfu is its main gateway. From Corfu Town, passenger vessels of Joy Cruises, Kamelia Lines and Kerkyra Lines take between one and just under two hours depending on the vessel. From Lefkimmi, Kamelia Lines runs the shortest crossing at about 45 minutes. Corfu and Saranda

The crossing to Saranda is international: Albania is not in the EU, and travel documents are checked before boarding. Ionian Seaways runs the route in its published 2026 season with a high-speed passenger service of about 30 to 45 minutes and a car ferry of about 55 to 70 minutes; Finikas Lines also serves the line. One rule stands out: Ionian Seaways does not take rental cars from Corfu to Albania, and most rental agreements do not allow the trip either. Seasonal ferries between Italy and Corfu

In summer, Corfu is a stop on the Adriatic routes between Italy and Greece. Grimaldi Lines and Blue Star Ferries call on the Ancona run, Grimaldi on the Brindisi run, Ventouris Ferries and Blue Star on the Bari run. These are long crossings with vehicle decks and overnight options: about six hours from Brindisi, eight to eleven from Bari and sixteen to twenty from Ancona. The calls are date-bound and change between seasons, so treat the timetable as the deciding source and check your sailing shortly before travelling. As of August 2026 the published calls run into September.

The Diapontia islands

Northwest of Corfu lie Ereikoussa, Mathraki and Othoni, the small Diapontia islands. Kerkyra Lines connects them with Corfu Town on a few days a week, with crossings of roughly two and a half to four hours depending on the island and stops. These sailings are aimed at islanders and unhurried visitors; book them directly with the operator, and plan the return day before the outward one.

Which Corfu port fits your trip?

Three questions settle it. Where do you stay? Corfu Town and the north point to the New Port; the south coast points to Lefkimmi. Where are you heading? Igoumenitsa and Paxos are served from both ports, Saranda and the Italy routes only from Corfu Town. Are you driving? The Igoumenitsa and Italy crossings carry vehicles as a matter of course; for Saranda and Paxos, check the vehicle option of your specific sailing, and remember that rental cars do not cross to Albania.
